A.
Application
procedure:
- Application method:
Online application. (Apply online,
print out application form, and affix company seals and company president’s
seal)
- Application period: From January 7 to March 31, 2008.
- Please
bind application form and relevant written information in a single volume
and submit in triplicate prior to March 31, 2008. Address to "Jury, Best
Choice of COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008 Award" and send to Computing and Network
Center, National Taiwan University, 1 Roosevelt Rd. Section 4, Taipei 106.
(Please send early; late entries will not be accepted. Date of submission
will be based on postmark or express delivery date.)
PS. When submitting by express delivery, please address to Room 216,
Computing and Network Center, National Taiwan University, 170 Sinhai Rd.
Section 2, Taipei. (Please refer to attached map—Because motorcycles
cannot enter the university campus, please enter by the side gate across
from the traffic light in front of Starbucks (across from the Language
Training Center). By truck, enter by the Fusing S. Road back gate.
- Relevant
forms (including application form) may be downloaded from the activity web
site.
- Three
copies of software or one hardware product must be provided for preliminary
review. (Products must be included when signing up for categories 16.
Product Design--Innovative Idea Design & 17. Product Design--Industrial
Design.)
B. Application rules:
- All ICT
firms qualified to participate in COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008 may submit
applications.
(1) Any firm that has not formally received a booth at COMPUTEX TAIPEI, or
has withdrawn from the show, may not apply to participate in the award. (2) Alternate firms may first sign up on the activity web site, but may
submit an application form only after formally receiving a booth. (3) Overseas enterprises may only sign up for category 18. Best Choice of
the Year--Overseas Enterprise, and their Taiwan subsidiary may sign up on
their behalf. A letter of authorization must be provided of some other
company (such as a distributor) must sign up on the enterprise's behalf.
- A company
that has withdrawn from the show at any time from acceptance of application
to the start of the show (either voluntary withdrawal or loss of
qualifications) shall be deemed to have forfeited its qualifications to
participate in the awards activity, in which case the application shall be
cancelled and no items returned.
- If an
unqualified company sends an application on its own initiative, the
application shall be discarded and no items returned.
- No
application fee is required,
and interested enterprises are encouraged to sign up. An enterprise may
enter as many products as it wishes. Each product may be entered in only a
single category, however. and multiple enterprises may not sign up jointly.
Applicants must guarantee that entered products do not infringe the
intellectual property rights of another party.
- The
organizer shall undertake to maintain the confidentiality of information
submitted by applicants. Documents and accessories connected with entered
products shall not be returned after judging, but the confidentiality of
non-award winning products shall be maintained.
- Form 2:
"Entrant Affidavit" is a required document in the preliminary review process
(review of written qualifications); an applicant will be automatically
rejected if this affidavit lacks the enterprise's large and small seals.
- Any
participants that refuse to provide a final judging briefing or take part in
subsequent relevant activities shall be notified in writing and forbidden
from participating in the awards activity for one year.

The organizer shall reserve the
right to revise any matters not fully dealt with in these application rules.
C. Circumstances
requiring cooperation of award-winning enterprise:
-
Award-winning enterprises must
cooperate with the organizer's award ceremony, product exhibition, and
overseas publicity activities in connection with COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008
during the period of June 3-7, 2008.
- In
compliance with the government's measures to stamp out trademark
counterfeiting, award-winning enterprises may only display award-winning
products, and may not display any counterfeit products during the exhibition
period. If a case of counterfeiting is discovered, the organizer shall
immediately cease displaying any of the company's products, shall confiscate
any participation fees paid by the company, and shall prohibit the company
from participating in the show for a one-year period. The organizer shall
categorically prohibit the display of any product which is the subject of a
lawsuit due to trademark or patent infringement or copyright dispute, either
before or during the show, and the participating company may not object. The
participating company shall bear all responsibility for the organizer's
involvement in a lawsuit or other damages due to the foregoing cause.
- A
participating company may not engage in on-site sales activities within the
exhibition area. If a violation of this rule occurs, the organizer may
compulsorily terminate the company's exhibits and cancel the company's award
winning qualifications.
- A
participating company's displays shall be limited to its individual
exhibition space, and the company may not display products or affix any
publicity items in areas apart from exhibition space (such as public
facilities, corridors, or on walls or pillars). If a violation of this rule
occurs, the organizer may compulsorily remove the items, and the company may
not object.
- A
participating company may lay out or distribute publicity items or printed
materials only after submitting said items to the organizer and obtaining
the latter's approval. If a violation of this rule occurs, the organizer may
ask the company to immediately remove the items, and the company may not
object.
D. Instructions
for filling out forms:
All participating
companies shall undertake to truthfully and completely fill out all required
forms. Because preliminary review consists of an evaluation of written
information, incomplete information will have a major negative impact on
assessment results.
(1) Important
notes concerning the completion of each form:
- Form 1:
Application form (submits application and announces category)
The applicant must fill out basic information truthfully and in detail, and
must affix large and small corporate seals.
- Form 2:
Company and product overview form (this form can be filled out online;
please also upload photograph of company logo and product; format: jpg, at
least 300dpi, no larger than 3MB).
- Form 3:
Entrant Affidavit (pledges to not infringe on third party IPR and not cause
involvement in a legal dispute)
This form is a necessary part of the preliminary review process. The company
must affix large and small corporate seals, and submit this form with other
relevant materials before it can be accepted for preliminary review.

Participating company basic information form
- Form 5:
Entered product basic information form (product profile, development
manpower and investment)
(A comparative list of product functions must be provided if an application
has already been made to enter the product in this activity.)
- Form 6:
Participating product export status form
The content of this form includes target markets, marketing strategy, and
market comparison with competing products (the foregoing items are
required); the export status item is not
required (please provide launch date (Form 4) and current order status after
the product has not yet gone on the market).
- Form 7:
Participating product self-assessment form
Please perform a self-assessment based on the key judging points and scoring
standards for the product category in question (one page) (required).
- Form 8:
Relevant reference attachments concerning participating product:
Attachment 1: Test reports from recognized standards organizations
concerning product security, Green Mark, energy efficiency, or compatibility
must be attached. Attachment 2: Existing product catalog, specifications, or instructions
(please attach Chinese or English version).
- Form 9:
Participation letter authorization
A formal copy of the participation letter of authorization must be attached
when a Overseas company wishes to authorize a Taiwan subsidiary,
distributor, or agent to handle application matters.
(2) Document format: (See example application form. This
example is provided solely for reference; content may be added or left out
depending on the actual situation):

Documents should be printed in horizontal rows (from left to
right) on A4 paper. Please bind application form and relevant written
information (such as DM or product catalog, etc.) in a single volume.

Please make necessary changes if there is insufficient space
to fill out items in formatted fields.
-
To facilitate checking, please number the pages of the
application form.
-
Please state the words "business secrets" to denote any
highly confidential corporate information on documents.
※The application form should be bound together with the product
and attachments (please make sure to note the application
number/category/company name/product name) as a single volume and submitted in
triplicate. Forms 1 and 3 must both bear large and small corporate seals (both
forms must be in triplicate).
