Abstract

The article below mentions about some of the problems which many students face when printing or using the computer rooms at NTU Computer and Information Networking Center. Below are some tips to make it more convenient for you.

Computer Usage and Printing Services

(Due to the pandemic, you will need to scan your student id to enter at all times. If you need help entering, you may dial our number 02-3366-5017/5022/5023)

Every semester, each student will receive 100 printing credits. (This will take 2-4 weeks after the start of the semester before you receive the credits.)

Where can I print?

Computer Room 103 and 107 are open 24/7. The basement, computer Room 114 and 116 are also available from 11am-8pm.

How much does the printing cost?

For black and white printing, it costs 1NTD per page and 1.5NTD for 2 pages. While, for color printing, it costs 5NTD per page and 7.5 NTD for 2 pages.

How do I print?

Turn on the computer and log into your account. Your username is your student id number and your password is the password you’ve previously set. Check the printer you’re connected to and other settings. Then, just print!

Only NTU students may log into our computers. Faculty, staffs and alumni cannot log into our computers. If you resume your studies after a temporary withdrawal, you may experience difficulties when logging in. You will have to reset your account by changing your password at the reception, this will take approximately 20 minutes to be effective.

***What to look out for?

There have been occasions where the printer does not receive the documents, so to make sure that this does not happen, download the file and drag it onto desktop before you press print. Credits will be deducted automatically from your account. (If credits have not been deducted this means that the printer has not receive the documents.)

Computer Room 103 is for fast printing. Hence, you will have a 5 minutes time limit before the computer shuts down. Also, you may only print a maximum of 30MB or 30 pages at once. If your file surpasses 30MB or 30 pages, you can split the files into smaller parts when you print.

Where can I top-up my credits?

Credits can be top up in Computer Room 103 using the top up machine or top up directly at the reception.

Can I photocopy?

We do not provide photocopying services here, however you can scan your document then print it out. There are two scanners located at the last row of Computer Room 103. Read the manual beside the scanners to find out about more details.

Others

  • Staplers are provided on the left side of the reception.
  • Do not save any files on the computer. The computers will automatically reset after you have logged off or shut down. We will not be able to restore any of the files.
  • *If you encounter any problems during printing outside our working hours, fill in the form placed above the printers. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
  • Our working hour is from Monday to Friday 9am-8pm.
  • If you have any problems with logging into the computers or printing your documents, don’t hesitate to contact the reception on the first floor.
  • Finally, I want to remind everyone that when you are leaving, don’t forget to take away your belongings. The center will pick up a lot of USB flash drives every year, and encourage everyone to replace USB flash drives with cloud drives to avoid computer virus.
